A calculator to translate the kilograms of cooling gas from the equipment into their equivalent CO2 tons, without any previous calculation. This tool calculates the gas equivalencies based on their GWP 100 years, which come from the ARG4 – Fourth Assessment Report – IPCC.
You just insert the kilograms, select the kind of coolant and the calculator will display the equivalent CO2 tons. This is a great help to classify the equipment in the companies. The equivalent CO2 tons is the amount of an F-gas, expressed as the result of multiplying the weight in tons of the F-gas by its global-warming potential (GWP).
Once the equivalent CO2 tons have been calculated, you can classify the equipment in your organization and thus schedule the regularity of the leakage controls established by the Regulation 517/2014 on fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-Gas Regulation).
REGULARITY OF LEAKAGE CONTROLS DEPENDING ON THE EQUIVALENT CO2 TONS
AMOUNT OF COOLING GAS | NO DETECTION EQUIPMENT | WITH LEAKAGE DETECTION SYSTEM |
Between 5-50 TeqCO2e | 12 months | 24 months |
Between 50-500 TeqCO2e | 6 months | 12 months |
More than 500 TeqCO2e | 3 months | 6 months |
In accordance with the F-Gas Regulation following do not have to control leakages:
