The service EDAR OPTIMIZA is based on an innovative tool for the optimization of wastewater treatment plants and its application predicts and implements energy saving measures, maintaining and/or improving quality all throughout the treatment process
EDAR Optimiza has been designed by the innovation area of EUROFINS ENVIRA Ingenieros Asesores' Department of Environmental Control. EDAR Optimiza enables the simulation of energy consumption in a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP).
EDAR Optimiza is based on the development and application of mathematical models on the physical-chemical behaviour and the mechanical-energy flow of a water treatment plant. These models are connected between them and with a simulation model of the biological behaviour of a WWTP. Thus, this tool enables interaction on the system in order to establish the possibilities for energy saving and the operational improvements that can be implemented, with a quantitative prediction of results.
Only with the joint modelling of all the mechanisms involved in EDAR Optimiza, biological (consumption for the synthesis, endogenous breathing), physical (SOTE, TTO, leaks of pipes and valves) and mechanical (efficiency of blowers and recirculation pumps), it is possible to optimize an essential element in a WWTP, energy consumption, in such a way that it is compatible with the quality objectives for the water treated.
With the modules of EDAR Optimiza, you can analyse how the efficiency of the treatment changes depending on the variations in the consumption of energy in the plant.
In order to carry out the service EDAR Optimiza, EUROFINS ENVIRA Ingenieros Asesores has a staff specialised in water treatment and a mobile unit designed by our company, equipped with computers and devices for the continuous control of key parameters in water treatment (optical oxygen sensors, ammonium/nitrates sensors, redox potential sensors, transit time flowmeter, network analysers, respirometer, equipment for air flow measurement).
With the service EDAR Optimiza, the biorreactor can achieve 40% of energy saving (about 24% of the total consumption of energy at the plant).
Si además se complementan los cambios en los parámetros de funcionamiento con inversiones para mejoras adicionales, que se consiguen valorar con EDAR OPTIMIZA, se puede alcanzar reducciones sustancialmente mayores.
More important reductions can be achieved if, besides the changes in performance parameters, we add investments in additional improvements, which will be assessed with EDAR OPTIMIZA.
